Honor launches the massive 7.09″ Honor X10 Max and 6.5″ Honor 30 Lite with the 5G MediaTek Dimensity 800

Honor, the Huawei sub-brand, is launching two new massive phones: the aptly named Honor X10 Max and the Honor 30 Lite. The Max has a tablet-esque 7.09-inch display, while the 30 Lite has a “smaller” 6.5-inch display. One of the most interesting things about these phones is the MediaTek Dimensity 800 chip inside.

Back in May, the U.S. government blocked many chip makers from supplying Kirin SoCs to Huawei. This meant that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), a majority supplier of Kirin chips to Huawei, was blocked. The company had to look elsewhere, and it just so happens that MediaTek previously launched a 5G chip for mid-range phones. Huawei and Honor turned to MediaTek, and now we’re seeing that in the new Honor X10 Max and 30 Lite.

Honor X10 Max

As mentioned, the Honor X10 Max is a very large phone with a massive 7.09-inch display. It’s literally bigger than some tablets, which brings up the question “what even is a tablet anymore?” Anyway, this is a 5G-capable device powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800 SoC, 6/8GB of RAM, 64/128GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery.

Other features for the Honor X10 Max include a 48MP main camera with X10 digital zoom and a 2MP depth sensor. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, and 22.5W wired charging. The phone launches with Magic UI 3.1.1 based on Android 10 with no Google apps.
